Default AK39 Fl23235-1

I have two of these compasses, one with a black body and one with a brown body. Every other one that I have seen has a black body. Has anyone seen a brown version?

Do you know the history of the brown AK39? Are they late models? Mine has a serial number 3855392 which seems much later than most of the black ones that I have seen on eBay which start 301 and 302. Does the fact that it has a serial number mean it was for issue by the military? I have a black version which has no s/n which I thought might have been made after the war for private use.

As far as I know they were late War 44 on so there are not many compared to the black ones. Any Military should have the FL Flieger mark although again this is not always the case. The early black ones tend to be well marked and dated ..I have had a lot 1939.
